This racing guide is intended to provide racers and race officials a standard set of technical regulations which will be adhered to. The term race official refers to race officers and camera operators.

1.
Introduction

The Sim Cup 2954 an Arena Commander classic racing bracket tournament with 3 heats and a final with 3 rounds in a heat/final per racing class.

Placement in the tournament brackets for all 3 of your heats are sorted by a random number generator. Your party and heat assignments will be given to you on the day of the tournament.

The selection of tracks for your racing class can be found further into this guide here.

The event will likely take 2-4 hours depending if you race in one or both ship and ground tournaments.

You can only sign up to one ship and one ground tournament.

The ship racing tournament will be run first, followed by the ground racing tournament so you can attend both a ship race and a ground race.

Sim Cup Racing Classes

Class Group A
Focus: Professional

  1. ACRUX - Racing ships only, see whitelist.
  2. GRAV - Any gravlev bike.

Class Group B
Focus: Fun

  1. OPEN - Any other ship not in a dedicated racing class.
  2. AURORA - RSI Auroras and only racers that have not placed on the podium of an ANZIA ship racing event.

The Sim Cup has a detailed set of Official Rules that must be followed by all participants.

To help you plan, these are the sequence of events for a Sim Cup tournament.

Note: Event timings are calculated with Cutters getting Halloran Circuit four times in a row. If everything goes right, the event may finish sooner for your class group.

1.2 T-0, Ship Tournament Opens, Event Briefing

Arrive at the Discord start time. Listen to the tournament briefing from the Race Director. Be on the Star Citizen main menu ready for party and lobby assignment by your designated Class Group Officer.

1.3 T+5m, Heat #1

Move into your class group voice channel, your Class Group Officer will provide you with your randomized party assignments for the first heat race.

Party up with those in your race, move into your race class heat voice channel, run the race together with your party.

Screenshot the race results and enter your results into the ANZIA tournament app.

Return to your Class Group Officer and await further instructions.

1.4 T+30m, Heat #2

Be in your class group voice channel, your Class Group Officer will provide you with your randomized party assignments for the second heat race.

Party up with those in your race, move into your race class heat voice channel, run the race together with your party.

Return to your Class Group Officer and await further instructions.

1.5 T+1h, Heat #3

Be in your class group voice channel, your Class Group Officer will provide you with your randomized party assignments for the third heat race.

Party up with those in your race, move into your race class heat voice channel, run the race together with your party.

Return to your Class Group Officer and await further instructions.

1.6 T+1h 30m, Finals

Be in your class group voice channel, your Class Group Officer will ask the top 8 racers that scored the most points in each racing class throughout all 3 heats to form parties to make up the final races.

Party up with those in your race, move into your race class final voice channel, run the race together with your party.

1.7 T+2h, Ground Tournament Opens, Event Briefing

Arrive at the Discord start time. Listen to the tournament briefing from the Race Director. Be on the Star Citizen main menu ready for party and lobby assignment by your designated Class Group Officer.

1.8 T+2h 5m, Repeat Heats & Finals

Same as the ship race, the ground tournament will repeat the 3 heats and the 1 final with 3 rounds within each.

1.9 T+4h, Tournament Closes

Official Rules

All racers are expected to have read and understand the technical regulations of the event. Questions regarding the regulations should be presented to the race officials before the event.

2.1 Ship Restrictions

In order to promote fairness for all players in the prized tournament, ships only available on the pledge store are banned until they are available for purchase with REC (Arena Commander rental credits). Since promotion limited ships have the same performance characteristics as their freely available counterparts, they are an exception to this rule. Specifically, limited ships that are allowed for use include the Pirate Gladius, Mustang Omega, Sabre Raven, Pirate Caterpillar, and F7A Hornet etc.

2.2 Ship Modification

All ships can be modified without restriction.

2.3 Racing Classes

Racers must decide on a racing class to participate in.

2.3.1 ACRUX Class Group A

The ACRUX class is limited to racing ships only, signing up to this class and group means you are serious about competing for the fastest lap times.

2.3.2 GRAV Class Group A

The GRAV class is limited to Gravlev Bikes only, signing up to this class and group means you are serious about competing for the fastest lap times.

2.3.3 OPEN Class Group B

The OPEN class accepts all other ships that are not in dedicated racing classes. OPEN class racers are not expected to be the fastest, it is a great opportunity for anyone that just wants to fly something fun around the tracks.

2.3.4 AURORA Class Group B

The AURORA class is restricted to RSI Aurora ES/CL/MR/LX/LN model ships only. The AURORA class is competitive in its own right making it a good choice for anyone that enjoys the challenge of flying the same speed as other racers. Most citizens took their first spaceflight in the RSI Aurora, it is recommended for those new to ship racing.

2.4 Communications

Simply being part of the ANZIA Racing Discord is enough to participate, the only requirement is to be able to listen to race officer instructions during the race and respond to mentions in Discord chat before and after the race.

The race direction voice channel will enforce Push-To-Talk. Racers may briefly respond to the race officers, but should otherwise remain polite and respectful among the combined official and racer voice channel.

A Discord voice channel will be provided for your racing class and bracket to run heats or the final in. Please remain polite and respectful of other racers when a racing match begins. Be kind and patient to each other and remember to take a screenshot of your race results together.

In the event that you need to report a rules violation or an incident requiring investigation, do so in the #incident-reporting channel in the official ANZIA Racing Discord.
